Daidough "Calm"

This week, rising independent artist out of East Orange, New Jersey, Daidough dropped his latest single “Calm” - a fast-paced, high energy track featuring his signature rapid-fire flow.

The accompanying music video for “Calm” is anything but - featuring big racks, get backs, hood doctors, and an armed robbery that leaves Daidough fighting for his life in a dimly lit basement… undergoing questionable medical procedures.

The track is an excellent introduction to Daidough’s unique, unrelenting style that’s inspired by the growing Brooklyn drill trend, but with his own distinct Jersey twist. Known for delivering bar after bar at a dizzying pace, with more words-per-minute than nearly anyone - “Calm” definitely fits the description.

His latest track comes on the heels of a string of impressive releases release in recent months including the more melodic “Distractions” as well an excellent feature on fellow Jersey artist, King RVCO’s “New Jersey Devil.”

To date, Daidough’s biggest tracks are the viral hit “Wop 4 Wop” and “A Hood Near You” both of which feature that captivating rapid-fire, non-stop cadence we hear on “Calm.” Far from a one trick pony however, Daidough has a bunch more up his sleeve - showing off his pen game with an appearance on Bars on I-95 as well as his command over softer melodies with broad appeal on tracks like “Ghetto Melodies” or his most recent single, “Distractions.”

Anyone watching the ascent of Daidough can see that this is only the beginning. His unique style, obvious star power, and versatile sound - that fits in perfectly with the larger trends in hip hop of melody, alternative flow patterns, and gritty subject matter - leaves Daidough perfectly positioned to be the next up artist out of Jersey.

Definitely stay tuned for more music this year from NJ’s rising star. With only singles out until this point, we’re hoping for a project from Daidough in 2021. In the meantime, watch the video for his latest single “Calm” below - and be sure to check out the rest of his impressive catalog of singles.
