Written by Logan Woodard

After a little under 5 years, Isaiah Rashad of the TDE camp is finally on track to promoting his latest album, which has been revealed as “The House Is Burning.” Eager on getting his momentum up quickly, Zay gives us a dope new music video and single titled “Lay Wit Ya,” featuring Memphis rapper and crunk extraordinaire Duke Duece. It truly has been a long time coming for this TDE rapper, but Lay Wit Ya engrains itself in your brain upon first listen; handing you the impression that he never left. The music video begins with Isaiah Rashad and his female friends, preparing for a wild night as the intro to the track creeps up on you. Immediately, a knockin’ 808 reels you in, with a throwback Three 6 Mafia sample titled “Ridin’ N Tha Chevy” smoothly mixed in. Though a beat like this is almost a piece of cake to a rapper like Zay, he chooses quite a different approach. He quickly molds this vigorous production, by producer Hollywood Cole, into a pre-game vibe that you'll find yourself playing over and over again. The music video has astounding color grading and dope transitions, amplifying Rashad’s unique style along with Duke Deuce’s intense presence. Deuce even dips into his dance bag, throwin’ moves and rapping in his one-of-a-kind Memphis flow. It’d be fair to say that Isaiah Rashad fans were completely blessed with this joint.

Hip-Hop fans had been wondering over the last few years if the Chattanooga rapper was ever going to release again, with almost a 4 year hiatus locked down since “The Sun’s Tirade” and no music even teased. Then, in 2020, an officially released track called “Why Worry” was presented by Top Dawg Entertainment as a “TDE Fan’s Appreciation Week.” It had almost been a year since any releases had come from the camp, and to get one from the young prodigy-turned seasoned rapper was special for most. And now, with Lay Wit Ya, the transition into the album rollout will be just enough hype for Zay; though one could insinuate that he couldn’t care less. Good music has always been at his forefront.

With Cilvia Demo, The Sun’s Tirade and now The House Is Burning, Isaiah Rashad is set to creating a dominant, memorable discography for his listeners. Lay Wit Ya is the perfect record to tide you over and prepare you for yet another impactful full-length LP. Peep the video/track in the link below.
