Jay Loud, a 21-year-old artist out of Seattle with a unique melodic sound who recently dropped the visual for his silky smooth track, “Need It Back” off his new project, Deep End - his official debut EP which dropped April 9th.
“Need It Back” is a groovy, R&B inspired track and an excellent showcase of Jay Loud’s impressive vocal talent and songwriting ability. His dynamic flow, rolling melodies, and carefully constructed hook perfectly ride the piano-led instrumental to create a super engaging ‘trapsoul’ type track that would give Bryson Tiller himself a run for his money.
The video for “Need It Back” (directed by Taj King, Seth Ondrick, & Izak Ramos) features Jay and his female companion in what appears to be the honeymoon suite of the heartbreak hotel - a fitting setting for “asking for your heart back.”
Jay Loud is originally from Indianapolis, where he faced a rough upbringing that eventually led him to seek a better life outside his home city. Upon arriving in Seattle, he struggled securing work and a place to stay, finding himself battling homelessness until one day catching the ear of his now manager, Taj King, while singing outside of a McDonalds. Before long, he had impressed the rest of the team at Asylum Records and in 2019 became Asylum’s first signee since the change in leadership that saw Dallas Martin become the President and VP of A&R.
In 2019, Jay Loud released his debut single “Lick”, which would be followed by his first full-length project, Nap Town - a reference to the nickname of his hometown of Indianapolis - which was streamed over 1.2M times upon its release. Standouts from that project include “Wait” and “Narcos”, the latter of which remains Jay’s most popular track to date. In October 2020, he teamed up with fellow ‘Jay from Seattle’, Jay Park for the well-received single, “Dior Socks” - one of his most popular tracks to date with almost 1M views on Youtube.
This year in April, Jay Loud made his official label debut with the release of his EP, Deep End - which along with “Need It Back” features early fan favorites like “No Safety”, “No Friends” and “Tonight”. Throughout the project, Jay offers up a diverse range of sounds - showing off different sides of his smooth melodic style to create an impressive, cohesive project that sounds mature beyond his years.
