Lil Tecca “LOT OF ME”

by Aidan C Werder on October 11, 2021

On Friday, Lil Tecca dropped the visual for “LOT OF ME”, one of the fan favorites off his recent, hugely well-received album, ‘We Love You Tecca 2’ - the follow up to his breakout debut project that caught fire after it was released in 2019.

“LOT OF ME” is Lil Tecca at his best - effortlessly gliding over abstract, electronic production with his signature, melodic flow, hypnotic vocal, and short, deceptively simple bars. With over 1M views in its first weekend, “LOT OF ME” seems to be a fan favorite because its hugely catchy chorus channels that same, lovable energy of his early songs like “Shots” “Ransom” and “Love Me” - the breakout hits off the original ‘We Love You Tecca’ projectresponsible for launching the teenage phenom into the national spotlight.

At just 19-years-old, Lil Tecca is one of the undisputed leaders of the new wave of underground artists pushing forward a melody-driven, electronic-heavy sound that’s found a massive audience on Soundcloud. There is a growing number of artists emerging from this online scene and gaining more widespread attention; names like SoFaygo, SSGKOBE, KA$HDAMI, $not, and Pasto Flocco - a dope young artist also out of New York who’s featured alongside Tecca in the “LOT OF ME” video (shot by Declan Kyle).

A long way off from “traditional rap”, the huge response to ‘We Love You Tecca 2’ goes to show there is obviously a huge demand for this type of incredibly catchy pop-leaning, electronic hip hop. Looking at a few songs off the project: the Lyrical Lemonade-produced video for “MONEY ON ME” has been viewed over 3.7M times, “REPEAT IT” feat. Gunna has been viewed over 5.3M, and “NEVER LEFT” has been viewed over 11M times and nearing 100M Spotify streams. Not only has he leveraged a cult following into mainstream success, but he has earned the respect of fellow artists around the industry. As evidenced by the features on the project from huge names like Lil Yachty, Chief Keef, Trippie Redd, Nav, and iann dior - every single one of which is a pioneer in their own way, challenging what hip hop can sound like and helping to shape the culture and music landscape of today

Watch the video for “LOT OF ME” below and be sure to check out the rest of Lil Tecca’s awesome new project, ‘We Love You Tecca 2’.
