On Friday, Roddy Ricch dropped his highly anticipated new album, ‘LIVE LIFE FAST’ and with it, the music video for one of the project’s early standout tracks, “25 Million” - already Trending on YouTube with a whopping 2.5M views over the weekend.
The extensive music video for “25 Million” (directed by child & Roddy himself - with a cameo from Benjamin Kickz) depicts Roddy as some kind of high powered executive for a special kind of corporation with some pretty unusual in-office entertainment. As he delivers deceptively simple bars in his signature, carefully crafted half-sung-half-rap flow, the underlying message of the track becomes clear: despite having access to extravagant real estate, multi-million-dollar yachts, beautiful women, or even 25 million dollars - it still isn’t enough to put a smile on his face.
For many, “25 Million” will be their first introduction to ‘LIVE LIFE FAST’, Roddy’s first project since he was launched into the stratosphere with his #1 song “The Box” off his 2019 project ‘Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial’ - a song with a staggering 393M YouTube views and over 1.3 Billion Spotify streams (that’s with a B). While it is surely difficult to fill those shoes, the early feedback on the new album feels mostly positive - with fans impressed by the range of styles explored and his increasing reliance on the unique tones of his melodic singing voice. He also had plenty of help from some of the best in the game, with features from Future, Kodak Black, 21 Savage, Takeoff, Ty Dolla $ign, Alex Isley, Fivio Foreign, Lil Baby, Gunna, and even Jamie Foxx. In addition to “25 Million”, other early standouts from the new project include “thailand” and the previously released “late at night” - for some reason opting for all lowercase titles throughout the album.
Overall, the lavish visual for “25 Million” seems like a great choice to ring in the release of Roddy’s highly anticipated, much-discussed new album that already seems to be off to a great start just a few days in.
