This week, rising independent gem Tray Haggerty dropped the visual for his catchy new single, “Walking Lick”. Tray Haggerty is a versatile, refreshingly talented artist and songwriter on the rise - originally from Dallas, TX before taking his talents to the west coast - whose distinct, confident style and creativity are on full display on “Walking Lick”.
In his first release since early this year, Tray Haggerty is showing off his distinct style and wide range as he lays out Rule #1: don’t be the next walking lick (translation: keep your eye on the prize, but also keep an eye on who’s got their eye on you). “Walking Lick” is centered around bouncy production and a catchy electric guitar riff that sets the stage for Tray’s dynamic vocal - switching effortlessly between punching bars, catchy hooks, intricate melodic flows, and a third high-pitched affected-vocal gear that comes and goes at just the right times.
In the accompanying music video, we follow along as Tray and his team plot and carry out a lick of their own – disabling alarms, immobilizing security, and avoiding lasers as they carry out their mission. His highlights as a songwritier include multiple writing credits on Lecrae’s critically-acclaimed 2020 project, ‘Restoration’ (#1 Christian Rap Album), Sho Madjozi’s viral Tik Tok hit “Spirits Up” (50M+ views), and a Dove Award nomination for his writing on Gawvi’s “Sin.”
