Representing the DMV, rapper TyFontaine is unapologetically himself with his new music video titled “Dummy.” One of the stronger singles off his newly released album “Ascension,” Dummy takes the new hyper-pop, rage rap genre to another level. There’s an effortless mix of rapping and singing and TyFontaine bodies it all, presenting himself as a multi-dimensional, talented act. The music video, directed and edited by DotComNirvan, features dramatic, exacerbating angles, jittery transitions, and a plot line that expresses the liveliness that is TyFontaine. Roaming around with friends, dripped down to the toes; this is just a new-age talent looking to solidify himself in the new era of rap and hip-hop music. There’s an odd reminiscence of Young Thug here, however it’d be imperative to forget that the young Fontaine can find pockets, hit notes and exude a type of artistry that feels organic and his own. It’s only a matter of time before he truly begins to ascend to a monumental status in the game, as long as the hard work and talent is consistent.
Since signing to Taz Taylor’s label, TyFontaine has put himself under a bigger spotlight, opening his talents to be morphed and broadened with talented producers like Nick Mira and JR Hitmaker, and artists in development like Ianndior and POORSTACY. We’ve received strong projects such as “We Ain’t The Same” and “1800.” Fontaine was also featured on Internet Money’s collaborative album titled “B4 The Storm,” which featured a wide range of talented artists such as Gunna, JuiceWRLD, Wiz Khalifa, Don Toliver, Kevin Gates, and many more. The album received RIAA’s gold and reached up to number 10 on the US Billboard Top 200. It’s safe to say that this could have been a huge boost for the DMV rapper and better yet, paved a solid road for himself to cruise on in the years to come. On June 2nd, Fontaine released his most anticipated album yet known as Ascension. It features sturdy tracks like “RIP Whitney” and “Run It Up” with rapper SoFayGo on the track as well.
We can’t wait to see what TyFontaine does next and check out “Dummy” below.
