Since his entrancing 2016 hit Speedracer, Chicago based rapper WARHOL.SS has successfully found a way to set himself apart. A day ago, we were given a brand new video for his new lead single “Checks” of his upcoming project Where’s Warhol 2. Reminiscent of Terry Gilliam’s cult-classic 1998 film Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, the visuals for Checks gives you a feeling of overwhelming luck. Set in a casino, Warholl.SS is rolling the dice and gambling at high stakes, seemingly unfazed. A warm blanket of confidence over him, he raps: “It’s like I sneezed and caught this feeling, mama told me ‘boy you blessed!’”
Warhol.SS went viral with his 2016 hit Heavystain, and again with Speedracer in that same year. This eventually led to his collaboration with emerging music video director and videographer Cole Bennett, who became a direct medium for the Soundcloud rap sub-genre. Though he came up with this new league of rappers, Warhol.SS has stayed versatile with his recent projects, videos, and various amounts of loosies released through Youtube. His most recent 2018 album, titled “Chest Pains”, was well-received and garnered the attention of higher-caliber producers and broadened his fan-base beyond the scope of the internet “mumble rappers” as some would call it.
In the last few months, the Chicago rapper has been teasing a project titled “Where’s Warhol 2,” seeming to be a sequel to his 2017 project of the same name. Though we are in the dark about any features, singles, or a tracklist, we do know the project will be dropped on March 5th, 2021. There’s a likelihood that this will be his strongest, most creative project to date, and fans like us are on our toes.
