Steph Curry Shares Hilarious Reaction To Sexyy Red Name Dropping Him In ‘SkeeYee’

From Drake to Cardi B, Steph Curry has had his fair share of shoutouts in hip-hop.

Now the NBA player is getting name dropped by rising female MC Sexyy Red. The four-time NBA champion was asked his thoughts on being mentioned by Red in her single “SkeeYee” in a recent interview with Vibe. Steph Curry went on to discuss his place in hip-hop culture and said he has been mentioned in over a hundred songs at this point, but hearing his name in Red’s single, he said, was kind of hilarious.

“When Sexxy Red did it, I just started laughing,” the Golden State Warriors star revealed. “I don’t know. I had never seen her at a basketball game.”

In the hip-hop world, it’s almost parallel when it comes to the NBA being a part of the culture. There have been instances where not only was a line about a player but a whole record dedicated and named after a player.

“My sister in the backseat with a .30/ ****** tryna shoot they shot, Stephen Curry,” Sexxy Red raps, mentioning Curry.

Steph Curry discussed that there was a time when his curiosity about his name in songs sparked his interest and one of his teammates helped out with the research.

“It’s funny because I actually was asking the question– no, one of my teammates was asking me the question, ‘How many times do you think your name’s been mentioned in the song?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, but I’m pretty sure there’s probably a website or something that could probably count it for you.’” the 35-year-old shared. “So he went and looked it up, and it was like 106, I think, at the time, which was wild to me.”

The NBA guard goes on to mention that his favorite song with his name featured in it as to be Drake’s “0 to 100.”

I been Steph Curry with the shot/Been cookin’ with the sauce, Chef Curry with the pot,” he rapped.

He also big ups Cardi B’s “Be Careful,” where she not only mentions the basketball player but also his wife.

“I wanna get married, like the Currys Steph and Ayesha ****/But we more like Belly Tommy and Keisha ****,” she rhymed.
